Ms. Biondi believes that every human should be treated kindly and with respect. She is accepting and respectful of all persons, no matter their gender, race, ethnicity, religion, orientation, etc. She believes that music is nothing more than an expression of the human soul, contextually applying the components of Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. She is PASSIONATE about people, and she is PASSIONATE about Music. Let’s make it another GREAT year!!
BAND:
BAND (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced) is a Standards-based course that continues to allow students to further their understanding of the study and practice of Music, while working to develop social skills, learn life lessons, and develop lifelong relationships. Using Woodwinds (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon), Brasses (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba), and Percussion (Drums, Cymbals, Mallets, Auxiliary Toys, etc) instruments, supported by lessons in Music Theory and Aural Skills, students will learn to read music in its written and orally-transmitted forms, develop and expand their range of notes, have a greater understanding of complex rhythm and time signatures, use correct technique and tone, have a large range of expression to use while playing, and further develop their use of appropriate articulations. Hopefully they come to have great respect and responsibility for the study and practice of music, and above all, HAVE FUN!!!

MUSIC APPRECIATION:
Music Appreciation is a non-performance course that enables students to study the cultural art form of Music. Students will explore music's various functionalities in order to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for all types of music. Throughout the course, students will work to understand the structural elements of pitch, rhythm, articulation, style, and dynamics, as well as its application in society, religion, and politics. Activities range from listening and responding to both familiar and unfamiliar works, as well as research and presentation of knowledge gained of musical artists, cultures, genres, and instruments dating as far back as the Medieval Era through to the present day.
