Parent Involvement

Los Alisos Middle School provides a wide range of opportunities for parent involvement. We have an active Parent, Teacher, and Student Association (PTSA) that meets monthly to provide students and teachers with a supportive school environment. This year, the PTSA has raised funds for field trips, character and reward assemblies, plants and paint for the beautification of our quad, and new chairs to be used during performances in our Multi-Purpose Room. Parent representatives to the Shared Decision Making Council (SDMC) work collaboratively with teachers, students, and staff during monthly meetings to address issues which support achievement, including school climate, supplemental materials, and budget. The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) provides parents with resources, guest speakers, and input for supporting English Language Learners. Parents of Gifted and Talented (GATE) students meet each trimester and receive information on the needs of gifted learners.

Each year, Los Alisos Middle School holds workshops for all parents, in both English and Spanish, on supporting study skills, helping with homework, and teen communication. Los Alisos also participates in the annual Norwalk-La Mirada Heart of the Community Conference, bringing together education, health, and employment resources throughout the community. Volunteers are a very important component of the continued success at Los Alisos, and parents are always welcome to assist in the school before, during, and after school hours.
