Required Materials:
I will provide necessary materials your child will need. All I request is a backpack to carry the agenda.
Make sure your child has the appropriate changes of clothes if necessary. Any child on a special diet, please make sure you supply appropriately also. We do have a snack in the mid-morning so if you want to send something for your child or the class you can. If your child buys lunch, please make sure they bring money every day. The cafeteria does not provide credit.
Los Alisos Agenda
Homework Policy:
Homework packets will be sent home on Monday to be returned on Friday. This includes 30 minutes of reading a night. Either you or your student reads. Homework also includes a current event. There are instructions on how to and what I want included every week. They are to look at the news on tv or read in the newspaper or have you read it to them or listen to the radio. Then together you will fill out the worksheet, then they will present it orally to the class on Friday morning. This is helping them keep up with the world as well as learning how to speak in public. Any part of the news is ok. It doesn’t have to be the headline story.
Grading Policy:
Students in this class are on an alternate curriculum. They receive credit for everything they turn in. They will receive a progress report to show growth on their IEP goals.
Testing Policy:
Teacher made assessments are given throughout the trimester. I also use observation, performance activities and portfolios as appropriate.
Discipline Policy:
· We have classroom rules, consequences and positive reinforcement that we came up with together. See charts in class.
· Ticket system- students will get tickets for attendance, good behavior and getting their agendas signed daily.
· Lobo dollars- students will get money for good work (classwork and homework)
· They will be able to be in a raffle for the tickets for a prize once a week. The Lobo money can be used in the classroom store on Fridays. Anyone wanting to donate prizes or gift cards please feel free.
