Welcome parents and students,

It is with great pride and pleasure to be the principal of Los Alisos Middle School.  On my sixth year as the instructional leader, I am proud to stand by a committed community of professionals, administrators, teachers, and support staff, whose priority is to aim at ensuring academic success and a safe environment for every child that attends this school.  We are an organization that demonstrates through actions and words that our first and foremost priority is to ensure the best academic, social, and emotional experience for our students with the goal to best prepare our students for high school, college, and beyond.  Even more significant, we want to show our students that we LOVE them and we want to CONNECT with them in order to create a space and opportunities for learning.

To ensure academic success, teachers have embraced the following practices:

  • Teachers’ primary focus is on student achievement. Every teacher understand that they have a critical mission and the moral responsibility to ensure and to provide their students the best optimal educational experience in spite of learning, economical, socio/emotional, physical or medical challenges in a safe and caring classroom environment.

  • Teachers’ instruction is rigorous, standards-based, and relevant to students’ lives, experience and interests. Teachers’ instruction in every classroom is guided by grade level standards where students know what is expected of them to achieve and the level of proficiency they must demonstrate to meet grade level standards and move beyond. Lessons are engaging and relevant where students are provided opportunities to apply prior and new learning and to reflect on their academic advancement.

  • Teachers use multiple sources of assessments to guide their instruction so that all students’ learning needs are addressed and students can advance towards proficiency.  It is using these assessments that every teacher ensures that NO CHILD at Los Alisos is LEFT BEHIND.

  • Teachers provide opportunities for students to interact with each other and share their knowledge among each other with the mindset to foster a community of learners.

To provide a safe and a caring environment for students, every adult on campus:

  • Teachers will connect, love, and build strong relations with their students.

  • Recognizes that every student is unique in spite of learning, economical, social/emotional, physical or medical challenges.

  • Treats every child with care and respect and keeps the dignity of the child in spite of internal and external circumstances.

  • Establishes and nurtures strong relations based on trust.

  • Provides academic and socio/emotional support to address the whole child.

I want you to rest assure that as the leader of Los Alisos Middle School, “Failure is Not an Option” for me. With that as my platform for decisions, it is both my desire and belief to prepare our students to be frontline leaders of knowledge; to inspire the uninspired; to lead with courage; to be critical thinkers and problem solvers, and to make real world connections.  I will continue leading with a clear focus and with a moral compass to ensure that each and every student under my care LEARNS, is LOVED and is CONNECTED with adults at Los Alisos Middle School.

“College is not a dream.  It is a Plan”
